What Is A Good Postmenopausal Treatment?

January 16, 2019 at 10:32am

I am a postmenopausal woman, weaning myself off of systemic topical estrogen. My gynecologist recommended Osphena®, but said I should wait one month before using, and the package said it could be months before I notice a difference! Also, there are all kinds of warnings regarding blood clots. Really? Wouldn't an estrogen cream be safer, effective and faster?

Is it safe to have sex while using Intrarosa®?

January 15, 2019 at 11:46am

My OB/GYN prescribed me vaginal Prasterone/DHEA/Intrarosa® for premenopausal vaginal PH issues causing me discomfort and infections. My husband and I engage in sex before I put the Intrarosa in, however my questions are:

  1. Is it safe to have oral sex since I used the medication the night before?
  2. Is it already absorbed and gone?
  3. Will it harm my husband?

When menopause starts, isn’t the period supposed to lessen? I turned 47 and I’m getting my period every 2 weeks like clockwork. (It has been 14 weeks now.) Could something be wrong with me?

What can I do About Hot Flashes and Insomnia?

August 28, 2018 at 9:37am

I am just getting 1 or 2 hours of sleep a night as my hot flashes keep me awake all night. I have the air conditioning on as cold as I can without freezing others. After the hot flash I get cold, so all night I am pulling the covers off, then putting them back on. I can't have my husband lay close to me at all.

I am a Minister and when I speak to the congregation as soon as I start to move around or get excited the hot flash will start, and I am not able to give the best sermon or concentrate like I should. I can’t take black cohosh because it hurts my stomach. My forgetfulness is horrible and it is hard to remember what I just said or what I was talking about. It is hard to function at work and I am not giving my family the attention they deserve. My baby girl is getting married and I am doing everything I can to muster up the energy to remember and give my daughter the support from her mother. Please help!

Stopping Estrogen Treatment

April 18, 2018 at 9:31am

I am 66 years old. I had a total hysterectomy when I was age 52. Since then, I have been on Premarin. I have weaned myself off Premarin to start taking Estradiol, which my doctor has prescribed for me.

I don’t see any difference in the two medications. I would like to get off estrogen altogether, is that possible? Are there side effects at this age?
