About Our Executive Director

Holly L. Thacker, MD is nationally known for her leadership in women’s health. She is the founder of the Cleveland Clinic Women’s Health Fellowship and is currently the Professor and Director of the Center for Specialized Women’s Health at Cleveland Clinic and Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.

Her special interests are menopause and related medical problems including osteoporosis, hormone therapy, breast cancer risk assessment, menstrual disorders, female sexual dysfunction and interdisciplinary women’s health. She is the author of Women’s Health: Your Body, Your Hormones, Your Choices and Cleveland Clinic Guide to Menopause. She is the past chair of the Physician Education Committee for the North American Menopause Society and former board member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

Additionally, Dr. Thacker is on the Executive Board of Councilors for the Ohio State Medical Association. She continues to be recognized for her excellence and has won many health awards. Most recently, Dr. Thacker was one of ten national winners of the Healthnetwork Foundation Service Excellence Award given to physicians who demonstrate a long-term commitment to patient care and medical research. In 2009, Dr. Thacker received the Lila A. Wallis Women’s Health Award from the American Medical Women’s Association and the Journal of Women’s Health for her lifetime career achievements in interdisciplinary women’s health.

Dr. Thacker graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine at the top of her class and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Society. She continued with an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic followed by a self-designed training in women’s health.

Dr. Thacker is a North American Menopause Society-certified menopause specialist and a certified clinical densitometrist.
