Does taking calcium supplements contribute to hardening of the arteries?

No, calcium is best obtained in the diet, but if you do not get enough calcium in your diet, you will need to take a supplement.

Please read Dr. Holly L. Thacker’s column on "Is Calcium a Patriot or a Traitor" and please see our calcium calculator to help determine if you need to take a supplement.
