My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, but she only had to do radiation. Is this something I should be concerned about? Also, is a physician or midwife right for me? How do I know? My husband and I just got married and want to try to start a family soon.
You can assess your breast cancer risk by speaking with your personal physician and answering some family history questions.
Nurse midwives are an excellent option for women with normal pregnancies.
Be sure to plan to breastfeed as this may lower breast cancer risk as well as getting good nutrition and regular exercise.
Be sure to ingest enough folic acid prior to pregnancy.
And share your childbirth plans with your health care provider.
