Ask the Nurse

I am diabetic and am diagnosed with high blood pressure. What is the recommended amount of salt per meal or daily?

The American Heart Association recommends that people with Hypertension limit their sodium intake (the mineral in salt) to no more than 1.5 grams per day. This can be done by not adding table salt to foods, decreasing or avoiding salty foods.
