Ask the Nurse

I am 79 years old and have had urge incontinence for years. I have an InterStim, which is not doing much good and I am considering purchasing a pelvic stimulating device. Can I use the device with the InterStim in place if I turn it off?

The pelvic stimulators have been shown to significantly reduce symptoms of both stress and urge incontinence. It should not be used with implanted metallic or electrical devices like a cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or InterStim device that is turned on (yes, you would have to have it turned off).
