Ask the Nurse

The corner of my mouth was sore and I thought it was a pimple, so I squeezed it and it turned into a sore. I was told to use over the counter Clotrimazole cream - is this acceptable for my sore?

Clotrimazole is typically used to treat symptoms associated with skin fungus infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm. Clotrimazole can also be used to treat vaginal yeast infections. You may have a bacterial infection, not a fungal infection and should see your physician.
