Ask the Nurse

What is the reason that Estrogen/Progesterone is not being prescribed by OB/GYNs after a certain age (70)?

There is no time limit to use hormone therapy. After age 65, there is one extra case of stroke per 1,000 women in oral standard doses of hormone therapy. So lower doses of hormone therapy or transdermal estrogen may be use. Be sure to find a menopause expert to receive the right treatment for you.
