Ask the Nurse

I suffer from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Any suggestion as to what to eat for breakfast? I am also dieting.

If heartburn symptoms persist for more than one week, it is important to see your doctor for an evaluation.

Avoiding the following types of food can help with GERD symptoms:

  • Fatty foods
  • Caffeine
  • Spicy food
  • Citrus
  • Alcohol

Consider starting off your day with a poached egg, cream of wheat or a high fiber cereal with skim milk and blueberries.
