Ask the Nurse

I have a diagnosis of "idiopathic" Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus on my medical record. A stent was placed under my scalp to pump excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) off my brain. Can the amount of CSF increase markedly over a period of 4 - 5 years after placement of the stent?

Stents can get blocked or clogged and that can cause pressure back up. It is important to recheck your status with your neurosurgeon or neurologist.
