Ask the Nurse

Is it better to exercise in the morning or the evening? Any tips on how to become a morning exerciser?

It is important to get regular exercise and being on schedule makes it more likely for you to stick to a routine.

The time of day doesn’t matter unless it is right before bedtime as that may make it harder to fall asleep. If you are not a morning person, you do not have to force yourself to exercise in the am. Sometimes scheduling exercise with a “buddy” or signing up for an exercise class will make it more likely that you stick to the routine you set out for yourself.

Move more and sit less should be your mantra during your waking hours except for the couple of hours right before bedtime.
