I have two glasses of wine as my happy hour at home. I put my feet up and relax. Is this bad considering I’m trying to lose weight?


You deserve to put your feet up and relax, but two glasses of wine daily is too much. The maximum recommended alcohol intake for women is 3-5 glasses per week. Daily alcohol is associated with the following:

  • Weight gain
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Increased breast cancer risk
  • Liver disease
  • Broken blood vessels on your face and nose
  • Cardiomyopathy

Try substituting some warm green tea or at least wine spritzers instead of nightly alcohol. Also, be sure to get 8 hours of sleep nightly, do daily exercise for stress reduction and keep a journal of your food and alcohol use. If you do these things, you will feel invigorated and have an easier time controlling your weight.
