I went through menopause at age 48 with few symptoms, except some hot flashes. At age 71 I had a complete hysterectomy due to endometrial uterine cancer. I needed no chemo or radiation. Will a woman my age have any post-menopausal symptoms after such surgery? Is hormone treatment at age 71 needed? Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about your experience, however, glad to hear you did not need any further treatment. It is unlikely that you will have any symptoms as your ovaries were more than likely not functioning at your age. If you had not required hormone therapy prior to the removal of your ovaries it is not likely that you will need any treatment now. Now, if you have been symptomatic with hot flashes or vaginal dryness you may benefit from other treatments besides estrogen. I would recommend that you see your doctor or make an appointment in the Specialized Center for Women at the Cleveland Clinic to discuss these options. Hope this helps. Take care
